Honey, I'm Home

Today is Tuesday, which means it's the day after Monday, which means The End to Marty's Non-Stop Work Month. Whoo!

I spent the night alone in our bed Sunday night because he left for work Sunday morning and didn't get home until Monday evening. Before we moved in together, I thought a lot about how much I would miss having my own room and own bed. Even toward the end of our days of seperate apartments, when we were practically living together anyway, I still had a place to go to that was mine and Not His.

If I wanted to oversimplify things, I would say that was the thought that caused me to turn him down when he suggested we move in with him when my lease was up two years ago, and again when the lease ran out the year after. That thought and the fact that he used to play World of Warcraft until he was in a stupor.

But he quit the game and we grew up and here we are. And spending the night without him was different than I expected. I'd intended to spread out so that one hand or foot was in each corner of the bed, fully taking advantage of all the space and freedom I had when I was single. "Yeah! I'm going to watch girly TV, drink from the milk carton, and listen to all the music Marty doesn't like! It's gonna be wild!"

Turns out I couldn't sleep at all, because I was missing him and worrying about his project for him. Plus Marty has been known to indulge in Sex and The City marathons with me, has an almost identical taste in music, and would probably applaud me if I drank from the milk carton and then belched.

I know what you're thinking: "When did you become so Post-Feminist, Megan?" I don't know, folks, but it happened fast. I'm getting soft in my old(er) age.

As an aside, Christmas is fast approaching. I wrapped Marty's presents when he was away. Also, we got some packages from his dad, to which I added a decoration because I have too much time on my hands.

And Tuesday also means the Lomo y Queso crew are headed over to our hemisphere. Have a good flight and we'll see you guys soon!

That doesn't make you any less a feminist. It just means you are now in the habit of co-habiting, and thats not so bad.

I'm totally feeling you on the lonely bed bit. Nate is still working third shift so I have the bed to myself 5 nights a week. But, I agree, it's not as fun as one would hope. Like you, before marriage I wondered how I would tolerate another body in the bed every night. But I grew accustomed to it so quickly, and now I really miss it. That will be one of the happiest changes in our lives after Nate stops pulling graveyard hours.
