Sayid Jarrah from Lost.
Mission: To get his crew off of a deserted island, using violence against evildoers if necessary
Past: Member of the Iraqi Army (left for moral reasons so he could be relatable to an American TV audience)
Most Bad Ass moment: Snapping the neck of his captor with his ankles while his hands were still tied behind his back. Totally Wicked.
Whiniest lovie dovey moment: Weeping (having a tantrum) over his lover who was shot in front of him, and then torturing the person he thought was responsible for his death.

Mission: To protect his wife and daughter, and country. Can you get any more Every Man that that?
Past: Involved in a botched mission to kill a Serbian genocidal tyrant.
Most Bad Ass moment: While being tortured and tied to a wooden chair, he kills a man by biting his neck. Then he uses the chair to kill the rest of the captors.
Whiniest lovie dovey moment: After a high speed car chase and while hiding out from cops with drawn guns: Oh wifey, I love you. I'm sorry I haven't I haven't been there for you, I was busy saving the world. I'll be there for you now.

Although if I were being pedantic I'd point out that the TOTALLY AWESOME neck-biting thing didn't happen in the first season.

Oh yeah, good point Potunkey. In fact, that neck biting scene is what enticed us to start at the begining of the series.

But Bear Grylls is more badass than both of them.
Jack's actual best moment is running up a wall and breaking a guy's neck. Second season I think.
um, i'll be the voice of the minority here and vote for sayid. it's really only because i've never seen 24.
but i'd also like to throw the name jack donaghy (30 rock) into the ring. he is badass, just not so violent.
