Kingdom Come
Marty here. God, I haven't posted in like for-EVER! There's so many things I want to share with y'all I'm going to have to just stream-of-consciousness a whole lot.
First off, being part of a blog-o-sphere is great. I can't imagine what it would be like if we just kept in touch with impersonal and infrequent mass mail.. yuck. But as it stands now I get to keep up with all y'all and make hilarious comments about what you write. Sweet.
Secondly, I'm trying to get a phrase into the diction and I was hoping I could wake the sleeping giant on this one and get you guys involved. The phrase is d-bag. As in, "Todd pretended to, like, 'accidentally,' you know, like, walk into the girls locker room. Like what a d-bag, y'know?" Seriously though, it has break out potential.
Christmas is sneaking up on me. Megan and I went out and bought Elf and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. Both are fine films and helped get the Holiday Juices flowing. I've never been one to get in the mood early. My family will tell you that most gifts are given in the bag I bought them in the night before. I do put a lot of thought in to gifts I give, I just don't realize I need to go buy the stuff until zero hour.
Christmas here seems like a completely different mood than the US. The marketing is all about booking your party somewhere and very sparse on the glitz and over-blown decorations that people stroll down Michigan Ave for. Of course London is a big place, and I might just not be walking around the right places.
I think I'll take a second to say that my wife is awesome. I've been working A LOT, and she not only keeps up the Blog, but is nice to me when I get home and understands that I gotta do what I gotta do. Anyway, I picked good.
Finally, I can't wait to see Ange and Oli when they get here. The Potunky folks will be out of town and Megan's friend, Sara, is still a 'maybe' for coming down, but you guys are making it. Sweet.
As a final aside, the way people use cheers over here is great. It's less supplicating than 'thanks' and more cheerful than 'ok.' There have been more than a few times that I've wanted to say it, but was worried that I'd come off a fraud. I'm pretty sure it'll happen, and when it does I know I'll be ready.

If the 'cheers' is followed by 'mate', you'll be just fine. Yeah, we'll be over on the 21st, if all goes well. We'll be in touch.
The xmas mood is very different in the UK. Less plastic and brightly-coloured shit put on lawns etc.
Just so you know, these are not words English people use: 'moot', 'segueway', 'look-it', 'douchbag', 'you're welcome' and the one that really confuses me here, is 'bring'. You guys don't 'take' stuff, you just 'bring' it back and forth. Ungrammatical and likely to elicit confusion from the English person.
You might have heard 'innit'. That's a great English word. Try it.
Cheers, D-Bag. When you making it back to the States?
